Legendary filmmaker and actor Abel Ferrara is set to star in Italian director Angelica Gallo's gritty feature debut The Night Burns — and the cast just got even more exciting with two more major additions.
Joining Ferrara are:
- Raika Hazanavicius (known for Colors of Time)
- Giovanni De Maria (recognized for Robbing Mussolini)
Together, they form the core cast of what is shaping up to be one of the most compelling independent films of 2026.
The Night Burns is a raw, Rome-set drama that explores contemporary youth culture in Italy's capital. The story follows a group of friends who steal jewelry and other valuables at trap music concerts — using a substance similar to pepper spray as their weapon of choice. The film offers a gritty, unflinching look at modern Roman street life.
The project is being produced by Guendalina Folador, a close collaborator of acclaimed Italian director Matteo Garrone, which adds significant prestige to this debut feature. With such a strong creative team behind it, The Night Burns is already generating serious buzz in international film circles.
Director Angelica Gallo's bold vision, combined with a talented and diverse cast, makes this one of the most anticipated debut features to watch out for in the coming months.
